HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
The start of a new year is always so exciting! I love starting fresh-- with a clean slate-- and dreaming big about what could be! One thing I love doing at the end of one year and the start of another is reflecting on all the good that happened in the previous year. Sometimes the negative tries to outshine the positive moments, so I like to be intentional about going back month by month and writing out some of the highlights. It helps me to remember my favorite moments from each month and reminds me to be thankful for each + every season that I went through to get me to where I am now! After doing that, THEN I start to let myself dream big about the year ahead. :)
I tend to always write out a list of resolutions or goals for the new year, but sometimes ((okay, most of the time)) those get lost or forgotten after about 7 days... and then I am just back in the rhythm of living day by day without beginning with a goal in mind. The past couple years I chose a word for the year, you've probably done this or heard about this before, and I really tried to focus on that word when writing out my dreams + goals. This year I decided to try something a little bit different. Instead of just choosing one word, I wanted to be a little more specific and choose a phrase for the year. I want all of my goals this year to be centered around this statement because it's much easier for me to remember a phrase rather than a list of 20+ goals ((and a lot less overwhelming too!!)). I will share my phrase with you guys + some of the inspiration that led me to it!
W I L D L Y F R E E
+ incredibly secure
- W I L D L Y : living in a state of nature; not tamed or domesticated; uncivilized or barbarous; crazy
- F R E E : enjoying personal rights or liberty, as a person who is not in slavery:
- I N C R E D I B L Y: so extraordinary as to seem impossible; not credible; hard to believe; unbelievable
- SECURE: free from or not exposed to danger or harm; safe.; dependable; firm; not liable to fail, yield, become displaced, etc., as a support or a fastening; sure; certain; assure; to make firm or fast, as by attaching
"Let your love, God, shape my life with salvation, exactly as you promised; Then I’ll be able to stand up to mockery because I trusted your Word. Don’t ever deprive me of truth, not ever— your commandments are what I depend on. Oh, I’ll guard with my life what you’ve revealed to me, guard it now, guard it ever; And I’ll stride freely through wide open spaces as I look for your truth and your wisdom; Then I’ll tell the world what I find, speak out boldly in public, unembarrassed. I cherish your commandments—oh, how I love them!— relishing every fragment of your counsel."
~Psalm 119:45-48 (MSG)
"Dear, dear Corinthians, I can't tell you how much I one for you to enter this wide-open, spacious life. We didn't fence you in. The smallness you feel comes from within you. Your lives aren't small, but you're living them in a small way. I'm speaking as plainly as I can and with great affection. Open up your lives. Live openly and expansively!"
~2 Corinthians 6:11-13 (MSG)
I hope you guys are off to a *great* start to 2017 + you're feeling inspired, refreshed, and ready for your best year yet!! :)
