One Night Standard
This past week was a pretty hectic one. Work was crazy, my schedule was nonstop, and sleep was much needed. I couldn't wait for Friday at 5pm when I would be done and finally able to RELAX. I wanted to do absolutely nothing and have zero plans, but Zach texted me and asked if I would make an exception. I trusted him and knew that he was aware of how tired I was (I may or may not get a little cranky when I'm sleep deprived), so I said sure. He told me to meet him when I was done running some errands after work in the east village. I thought that was random, but whatever. When we finally met up around 6:30pm, he made me follow him to The Standard Hotel and said we would be having a staycation!!! He booked a beautiful room for us to stay in for one night with a spectacular view of the city!! I couldn't believe it!! He even packed a bag for us— complete with an outfit for me to wear to my friend's bridal shower the next day! It was exactly what I needed!!! Our only plans for the night were to relax, watch the sunset from our room, and go to dinner downstairs. It was perfect.
Our friend, Austin, is the manager of the hotel's cafe and bar downstairs and told Zach about an incredible deal they have on an app called "One Night Standard." It allows you to book a one or two night stay for a great price based off of availability. It was perfect for our little getaway. When we woke up in the morning, Austin had surprised us with breakfast in bed delivered to our room! It was so sweet. Zach and I got to spend a relaxing night together with no interruptions and lots of rest. That is pretty rare for us and was much needed.
I am so thankful to be married to someone who reminds me to slow down and rest. Resting is extremely important for our bodies to function properly, not only physically, but also mentally and emotionally. I am really working on making rest more of a priority in my life. It's tough because I like saying yes to every opportunity, but I am realizing more and more that I have to carve out special time for rest or else it won't happen on its own.
Hope you all feel rested and refreshed, and if not, you are able to make time to do so asap! If you need any help... download "One Night Standard" and book your own mini staycation. It's a great excuse to feel boojie for even just a night! ;)
